Thermoelectric Cup Cooler

My sweet attempt at a Peltier cooler for a pint sized cup. This was a major fail due to...
- A very small contact zone between the cup and the cold side of the Peltier
- Trying to cool a pint of water by cooling the cup
- Terrible efficiency of Peltier
- etc

I was just thinking of trying this.. but my idea was cooling from the bottom on a flat surface and insulating the whole cup to keep the warmth of the air out of the inside. Maybe putting a heatsink inside the cup on the bottom. one thing ive noticed so far is.. any heat from the hot side close to the item your cooling will keep it from working..

You need to apply active cooling on the hot heatsink... then the temperature difference will transfer to the cold side...

Glad to see you publishing negative results!

An aluminium block with a hole the same shape as the cup so you gain good thermal conduct would be the way to go. Also insulating the whole thing & fitting fans to the hot side heat sinks. Good effort though :-)
