Since these are cadets the lead sergeant at the front actually should be giving timing, like ‘left, right, left, right’ and all that, but since the Sergeant on front just didn’t feel like it, the whole thing is a mess

Theres 2 idiots at work here.

Tallest person in the squad is the marker, and the entire squad follows their step which in this case, is following the cadence of the drum in the band.
Then theres the Meathead up front.

I'm convinced the meathead up the front is actually controlled by the cockroach from Men in Black 2. His face is so serious but his body seems to be marching to 3 different bands and the Doom Soundtrack.
For some reason, the marker in the squad stopped listening to the band not in Sergeant Slaughters head, and instead tried to step with him, which has caused everyone in the squad to malfunction
