China, Burundi pledge to deepen agriculture, infrastructure ties

China and Burundi have pledged to support each other's development strategies and deepen cooperation. They are particularly focusing on areas such as agriculture and infrastructure. The pledge was made during a meeting between Burundian President Pierre Nkurunziza and Chinese Vice President Li Yuan-chao. Nkurunziza has described relations between the two countries as smooth and dynamic. He's also reiterated Burundi's support for the One-China policy, China's stance on the South China Sea and Korean Peninsula issues. Vice President Li's visit to Burundi is aimed at implementing agreements reached by Chinese President Xi Jinping and Nkurunziza during a meeting in 2014.
