Motovlogging all AROUND me! | Insta360 ONE X2 First Impressions

In this motovlog I show off my new 360 camera, an Insta360 ONE X2! Some people claim it's the best 360 camera for motorcycle riding and from my first impressions I think they might be right. I think it's going to be nice to motovlog in 360 degrees.

ABOUT ME:
My name is Mengy and this is my motovlog channel, Moto Mengy. I plan to upload a Goldwing moto vlog every Sunday. I ride a 2018 Honda Goldwing DCT Tour but I rode Harley Davidson's for 25+ years before. I'm motovlogging with a GoPro Hero 8 Black mounted to a Bell Mag 9 open face helmet, no external mic! To me riding is wind therapy.

My goal for the channel is to motovlog Pennsylvania country roads while also motovlog exploring around America. I'll also talk about biker topics and such, probably test ride a few other motorcycles, and will definitely get lost and accidentally wind up on unpaved roads along the way.

I use that insta camera and am really pleased with it. If I'm honest I don't enjoy seeing the view point turn that much while riding but it is great to be able to talk about something and focus on it at the same time.
I probably use mine more in single lens mode for super stable footage that doesn't need the view setting in post. I've got the Insta audio adapter that allows you to plug your microphone in. Works well with the Rode Go2 wireless microphones, would allow you to vlog with just the Insta camera and your helmet looks close to stock with just the microphone plugged into the small Rode sender.

I think when used selectively, the Insta360 One X2 camera is incredible. More and more people will get them now and they will become the next "must have" item for motovloggers. I am not interested in the fancy little planet/fish eye stuff like you. I want the camera to show stuff my action camera can't. You seem to want to use yours the same way I want to use mine.
I should bring mine with me way more often than I do though! :D

I like mine, it adds to editing time a bit, I don't use the fancy views, I use mine as a camera for interesting perspectives and I really like that it does horizon leveling, which can show lean angle. Like anything, you can use it in a way that fits your style, it just gives you a huge amount of options to get the view you want for your vlog style.

What you were using it for is exactly why I want to get one as well. We've got tons of amazing scenery here in this part of PA and I always have a hard time trying to capture it with my helmet mounted GoPro.
Having the drone is very cool and adds a whole new perspective to videos but I wish I would have gotten the 360 camera and held off on the drone (I think the 360 is a lot more versatile and would get used more often)

I'm impressed wtith what you can do with the new camera. Great way to gather the scenery views. I never realized what you have to do to make a viewable video. Sounds like it will increase safety - you can SEE the road and not worry about missing a roadside feature.
I don't think I'll run out and buy one, but I'm not a videoblogger. Have fun, and I'll watch for more videos.

They def have their place. I use my as stationary though as they provide about 2 or 3 additional angles. I rarely mess with rotations and what not but don’t hate it when people do. Good stuff man.

Nice! I’ve been using 360 for a while and always like the additional views it provides. I actually just got the one x2 since my GOPROMAX fell and I smashed the lens. So far, I am liking it but need more testing. It looks great on your footage 👍. My only feedback for your consideration is the transition speed when you switch from front to back, seems very fast and hard to watch without getting dizzy. Easy tweak in editing I think. Thanks for the shout-out! Yeah, 360 cameras are AWESOME! Looks like you got a solid mount for yours, which makes a big difference! Looks like you were using the Insta360 software to frame your shots? I know you use DR, so maybe check out the video I did on it - you can animate the camera in DR and that'll help your resolution issues [sharpness, mainly]. Let me know if you have any questions - I have LOTS of experience with 360 footage now :D

This is the best looking 360 video I've seen. Is it the camera or did you edit this a different way than the others do?
