You left out a very important point. Administrative loss of use the rental company will hit you with for as long as the vehicle is in the shop waiting for parts which can turn into thousands of dollars. And regular auto insurance or your credit card is going to cover that. The only policy that covers that is the insurance the rental company sells you. And they usually have zero deductible.
