How To Deploy a Perforce Helix Core Server on AWS

This complete guide goes through all the steps of installing your own Helix Core server on AWS using the Enhanced Studio Pack cloud formation template.

NOTE:
AWS has added our cloud formation template to their marketplace now, which is why the link looks a little different. In the email, you get after filling out the sign up form and choosing AWS Cloud as your deployment option, you will have a link to the AWS Marketplace listing. From there, click through the buttons to "subscribe" (there is no charge or commitment, it's just the term that AWS uses for all marketplace listings) and click through until you get to "Launch" the cloud formation. This will bring you to the Cloud Formation Template, similar to what is shown in this video.

This video was a life-saver for a small indie dev. Thank you!

This is an amazing tutorial, thanks so much!

One addition that would help those of us unfamiliar with AWS would be to discuss the costs of this AWS setup. I assume you can inspect the cost via AWS's billing tool, but a walkthrough would be handy! :)

Awesome. I did all the SDP setup "by hand" in the past. Looking forward to using this template.

Excellent tutorial, I've already done the setup and it's working well.

I just had one question, how do I access the Swarm web interface?

How do you set up a typemap in the instance if you are using a linux instance?

Doesn’t work ! Template is all different now. Your video is in details, however doesn’t show half of the things to do now in the new template

Excuse me, the link you provide for us to get the CloudFormation Template is not correct, can you give us the link for getting the correct CloudFormation Template

Do you have any videos regarding connecting to your own server. I have been having issues with getting the timeout error when trying to connect, looking through the troubleshooting tips on perforce website has not worked.

As of 21/08/2024, AWS free tier only covers t3.micro instances. If you use t3.small or larger, they will charge you for it. Just letting everyone know if you're setting up with this template

This is overly complicated for a team of 1. Is there a more beginner friendly approach that doesn't involve setting up Swarm or using a template?

Why didn't you show how to add .p4ignore and typemaps?
I can't find any video that shows how to create them on a remote linux server, is there any part 2 planned for this video?

As a rule, should NO developers ever use the perforce user? Even if I set up the server, the depots, workspaces, etc.. I should still assign my self a dev user right?

If you're setting up a Perforce server for Unreal, make sure to make it case insensitive or you have to restart from the beginning. Thank me later D:
