Taste Test- Tabasco Scorpion Sauce + Inside the Tabasco Factory

The 5th hottest pepper in the world meets Tabasco in their new Scorpion Sauce! But is it really THAT hot? And how do they make hot sauce anyway? We traveled to Avery Island, Louisiana to find out and see if the scorpion really stings.

Did you know Tabasco makes over 40 different kinds of sauces, marinades, and food products? On Avery Island, home of McIlhenny Company, the makers of Tabasco Hot Sauce, a family member still taste tests every batch before it is bottled. Incredibly, over 700,000 bottles of Tabasco are bottled DAILY on the island to keep up with global demand. Our favorite? "Family Reserve," which is exclusively sold at the Tobasco Country Store on the island. Family Reserve is the only Tabasco sauce made with peppers grown on Avery Island, and aged for up to 8 years (compared to 3 years for traditional Tabasco Sauce). We love it so much, that we bought two bottles (after running out from our visit in 2018)! The factory tour and restaraunt is a must visit for hot sauce fans, and a worthwhile detour off Interstate 10.

My uncle in law bought me their scorpion sauce for Christmas. You definitely didn't get enough. I like fire hot sauce, but that shit brings legitimate pain for an hour 😂. You didn't get enough to truly experience it 😂

Great tour, we were there in January but mostly toured and not many samples, I didn't want to drain the swamp.

Wow! I can't believe you were here in February. This is my home parish!!! By the way...corn macque choux is pronounced 'corn mock shoe.' Hope you enjoyed the food. Avery Island is a great place to visit. Did you know that Avery Island is a large salt dome where salt is mined?

Awesome review and this coming from a lifelong resident of Cajun Country. I use all 14 varieties on a regular basis

April likes the cute little Tabasco bottle. Interesting that they use a "color stick". I would love to try other flavors of Tabasco; I love spice. Wonder what I would think of the Scorpion Sauce. April loves ice cream, but has no desire to try that kind!

The home of Tabasco, that is terrifying for all those people that dislike spicy. Though I live in Thailand, I am still not the biggest fan of spicy food. Interesting to learn more about the tabasco sauce. That food does look amazing and now I am feeling hungry. Have you tried tabasco shots?

To my tastes, the scorpion Tabasco has a cutting sharpness to it, but not so much of a smoldering burn as some other hot sauce. Not my favorite, but a good one none the less. It's enough to make me want a midnight snack now. Nice mini tour. Cheers.

We didn't know that Tabasco was from there! So many cute little bottles, yes it would be cool to smell from home! Wow I wonder how it is to be a taster of Tabasco, I wonder if they change the staff regularly because of tongue burns!!

Great video and I’ve shared it to my Facebook page 🙂 A lot off my friends here in Norfolk UK use a lot of Tabasco Sauce but probably have no idea of its origin and history 🙃

What a nice video of the Tabasco factory! We used to get the mini Tabasco bottles in the Marines in our MREs and I’ve been a fan since. My favorites are their Sriracha (BETTER than the “rooster” brand). The chipotle and of course original. I like green on my eggs and tacos when I don’t want too much heat.
Great video, I’m subscribing 😊
