PARROT BEBOP 2 POWER WHAT ABOUT THAT FIFTH WIRE ? ?

I was curious as some others were as to why the Bebop 2 Power model charging cable had a fifth connector when the Bebop 2 had only four since there are only four connectors going to the battery. Is that something new to help balance the cells in the LiPo battery? Here are my findings.

A continuity test of the ground (negative) (#1) pin and the 2nd pin (with 0.01/0.00 voltage) next to it would confirm if they are connected to each other or if the fifth pin added is just a dummy connector to prevent the charger cord from being used in HD and previous gen 4 pin charger. I’ve got a bebop 2 power but my battery voltage is only 12.6v why is yours showing 14v

I have had my bb2 power over 10 months and i use the balance hd charger that came from parrot and my power batteries stlii last in 10 to 15 miles per hour wind for 27 mins, and i have flown each battery with the bebop 2 and the bebop2 power 170 flights . The batteries have never lost power or drained too fast. I just flew an hour ago, still with 27 minutes a piece.

Hi mr kent. Very good video. I was wondering if you could help me. I received a bebop parrot 2 as a gift( the drone was in the box with all its accessories and seems brand new). But, Its missing the charging cable that connect the charger to the battery. I went on amazon, ordered a third party wire, it was very cehao like 8 $. One end of this third party connector fits in the battery but the other end of the cable doesnt fit in the charger. I will try to test the voltage like you did and i will probably try to remove the useless connector and crimp terminal on my 8$ cable so they could grip the pins on the charger. I think its the cheapest solution. What do you think ? Thanks ;)

Wait a second. Let me go back to February 2016 when I get my first Bebop 2. I get it with a 4 pin charger and the Skycontroller 2 doesn't exist on the market. Then I get another Bebop 2 with Skycontroller 2 FPV pack in February 2017 and it came with a charger with 5 pins I think because of charging the batteries and the Skycontroller 2.

Mr. Kent I am going to ask a dumb question. I ordered one of your balance charger adapter cables a couple of nights ago and am wondering will this have any effect on charging my Bebop 2 power battery using your adapter cable? i just got my balance charger today and got one just like yours as I trust what you recommend more than some others. thank you for all you do. I just recently picked up a Bebop 2. will these bebop power batteries work in the bebop 2?

Cable has not arrived yet I believe it can take up to four weeks, not to worry I look forward to using it when it arrives. One more question please, if I am not flying I should put my batteries in storage which is done on the balance charger, when flying and the battery level is dropping is there a percentage which is good enough for safe storage e. g. 20%.regards alan

Why don't you check continuity between the last two pins ... maybe it's just ground. Either way Bebop 2 Power batteries are Li-HV and they max voltage is 13.05v much above 12.6 volts of the regular Li-Po. Chargers shouldn't be mixed because either you don't charge enough or you destroy a battery.

A nice video/test would be to use a Bebop 2 Power battery in a regular Bebop 2 and see if flight times are the same as Bebop 2 Power or the battery can't fit in a Bebop 2 Standard ?

Kent I have an observation. Pin 1 you detect 13.07 then (8.7 pin 2 and 4.3 pin 3) which looks like 2 of the cells are connected on pin 2 to get approx a cell battery of .... 4.35 + (4.35+4.35) = 13.05
So it looks like pin 2 is connected to 2 cells and pin 3 to1 cell with the Battery of cells presented on pin 1.
Pins 4 & 5 appear to be ground.

Million Dollar question will the Bebop 2 balanced charge lead we made still work for the Power?

Thanks for another great video. Fascinating stuff. Im very glad you shared this info. I have a different cable for my 5-pin charger! It's official Parrot. The pin is an empty hole to the left under the little "t" in Parrot! The pin you are using as Common is empty on my cable.. My Harbor Freight meter sadly fell in on itself; when I get a new meter, do you think I should try using the second hole as common?? I wonder if those left two pins are split from the same source.

Interesting. Without actually breaking a battery open to see how its wired its difficult to say whether the wire is used or not.
