Secretariat - Belmont Stakes

I absolutely love this movie, Secretariat was one of the greatest race horses to have ever lived. I wish I could go back and be able to see him in person, I can't imagine how amazing that would be. Recently I've been obsessed with this song by the Foo Fighters and it just fit the vibe of the video that I wanted to make.

Almost 7 years later and I still get chills from this video. Such an amazing horse and story!

I know some people hate the song, but this is my creation. The music matches up with a lot of the visuals. How Secretariat gets darker when it says 'fade into the black'. How she puts her hand over her pin and closes her eyes when it says 'you saved me the day you came alive'. He quite literally did! How the race builds up and as the song hits its peak he tears away like the tremendous machine he is! How he swoops around the turn at another buildup. I'm sorry... but the gospel song they put in the movie just didn't do it for me lol.

There are also hundreds of other videos of this race, real or from the movie, that don't have this song playing. You can go watch those, or mute this video and play your own soundtrack. Let's just appreciate this amazing horse. :)

Excellent story of this extraordinary horse! June 9, 1973 i was new to following the triple crown race, Secretariat was Heart stopping AllWays breaking at the back of the pack 😳 his win at Belmont set a precedent that's Never been equaled or exceeded!!! His Heart was twice the size of other horses & he showed it in so many ways ~ Go Big Red This is Your Race 🐎🏆🌹💜

I watched Secretariat win the Belmont back in 73. He looked Sham square in the eye and said not today, not ever. Man I love that horse. Rest in peace Big Red!

Sham also was a grandson of prince Quillo. He also had the big heart gene also. That was why he was the only horse who could keep up with Secretariat, until he broke down in the Belmont. Santa Anita park celebrates him every year with the Sham stakes.
