The House voted unanimously to pass a bill that would ban imports from the northwest Chinese region of Xinjiang, where the Chinese government has been accused of carrying out massive human rights abuses against Uyghur Muslims and other ethnic minorities. Also, the U.K. will lift travel restrictions on 11 African nations that were put in place to stop the spread of the new Omicron coronavirus variant, and police in Canada released video footage of someone they say is a suspect in the high-profile 2017 murders of a billionaire couple. CBS News' Haley Ott joined "CBSN AM" from London with those stories.

It's actually a pretty good bill. Question is, will Biden sign it.
Some products affected will be; iPhones, iPads, Teslas, Amazon Echo Hubs and Sketchers...

Here's the summary of HR6210 from Congress' website:

Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act

This bill imposes various restrictions related to China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous region, including by prohibiting certain imports from Xinjiang and imposing sanctions on those responsible for human rights violations there.

Goods manufactured or produced in Xinjiang shall not be entitled to entry into the United States unless Customs and Border Protection
(1) determines that the goods were not manufactured by convict labor, forced labor, or indentured labor under penal sanctions; and
(2) reports such a determination to Congress and to the public.

The President shall periodically report to Congress a list of foreign entities and individuals knowingly facilitating
(1) the forced labor of Uyghurs, Kazakhs, Kyrgyz, and members of other Muslim minority groups in Xinjiang; and
(2) efforts to contravene U.S. laws regarding the importation of forced labor goods from Xinjiang.

The President shall impose property-blocking sanctions on the listed individuals and entities and impose visa-blocking sanctions on the listed individuals.

Securities issuers required to file annual or quarterly reports with the Securities Exchange Commission shall disclose in such reports certain information related to Xinjiang, including instances where the issuer knowingly
(1) engaged in activities with an entity helping to create mass surveillance systems in Xinjiang,
(2) engaged in activities with an entity running or building detention facilities for Muslim minority groups in Xinjiang, or
(3) conducted a transaction with any person sanctioned for the detention or abuse of Uyghurs or other Muslim minority groups in Xinjiang.

After being notified of such a disclosure, the President shall determine whether to investigate if sanctions or criminal charges are warranted.

The Forced Labor Enforcement Task Force and the Department of State shall report to Congress strategies to address forced labor in Xinjiang.

If I were China. I would move everything that is vital to the world economy made in China (which is a lot of things) to Xinjiang and stamp it made in Xinjing China.

China will just move the goods coming from that region in an illicit manner. All they have to do is forge its point of origin. But Pooh bear will never let that happen tho right !?! Riiiight 😂

I'm Chinese American and I applaud the bill that punishes China for abusing human rights.

Muslim nations have criticised Israel for managing Palestine. Yet, not a single Muslim nation has criticised China for its management of Xinjiang. The Muslim nations don't agree with the Western countries? Why?

*ABC's of Salvation*

*A* - Admit you're a sinner in need of a Saviour (Romans 3:10, 6:23)

*B* - Believe that Jesus Christ died for your sins (1Corinthians 15:3-4)

*C* - Call upon the Name of the Lord and be saved (Romans 10:9-10, 10:13)

Believe what Jesus Christ did for you on the cross and be saved. As Paul said in the book of *Ephesians 2:8-9* - _For by grace are you saved through faith and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God. Not of works lest any man should boast._

What's going on here? No Ian Lee. No Anne-Marie?? This isn't right CBS. You can't take away both our champions at the same time This is just plain evil and it hurts the soul. The world needs more Ian Lee and Anne-Marie action. It needs it more than ever. Please give them both a raise and make sure AT LEAST one of them is there every day. Ideally both, because their interactions and banter always feel like a cool breeeze on a scorching summer day but if you really, and I mean REALLY can't have them both AT LEAST make sure one of them is there. C'mon!
