I think he's top because of his huge hit boxes, good recovery, good edge gaurding, and plus Monado arts.

I mean, according to NIKO he has 1 losing matchup and he has large moves with the best neutral B in the game with his monado arts arts, so I think there’s no chance he’s not a top tier

I personally think he is top tier for multiple reasons (This is from the perspective of a shulk main) -

1. He can escape disadvantage quite easily using jump shield and even speed at time, and tough mu's such as palu and pika have easy enough counterplay, snake is the only super tough mu which imo is a -1. If you are good with monado art management it is not a big issue

2. Monado arts do somewhat telegraph what you are gonna do but this allows for easy mixups that throw your opponent way off guard, like playing grounded in jump or in the air in speed

3. He has a AMAZING MU spread, mario is easy, belmonts are free, kirby is free, low range characters for the most part are easy or free

I think shulk is top tier, but not top 3, maybe top 10, but I think he is top tier NOW, no potential nonsense involved

Shulk is top 8. He is strong in so many ways. He is held back by skill cap, where he is a hard character to learn. He could be top 3 with more representation and more explored techniques

I think that he could theoretically be the best character in Smash Ultimate or at the very least in Top 3, but because of the giant learning curve and the fact that there are others fighters who are also extremely good, and much easier to learn, he will forever be just a high tier, or maybe even high mid tier.

I think shulk is top tier to me top 5 best character are 1 pikachu 2 joker 3 peach 4 shulk and 5 wario shulk good against pikachu, joker, peach, and wario id say he loses to palu snake and maybe zero suit he beats everyone in the game cause of his crazy hit boxes his arts are just amazing there basically cheat codes and he can kill really early his start up on his move are definitely better then it was in smash 4 his recovery is good except he loses alot of momentum on the second air slash he has counter which also kills really early he can follow up and his up tilt, down tilt and side tilts are really good up tilt if someone above ur down tilt near ledge of coming towrds u and side tilt is good cause u can run up and kill at ledge super early foward air and neutral and back air are his main tools and they are really really good foward tilt to edge guard or simply kill neutral u can cover many options and back air can be used to pressure or even kill thats shulk in a nutshell shulk is really good

Shulk is high tier. He has the ability to make the difference between the better player and the worse player harder to pinpoint, but that doesn't make him top tier. He struggles again hard campers like villager, mega man, and Wii fit. He can get a few hits because of his range but experienced players can deal with it. He's as good as Roy in the air and ground and they have equal recovery since roy can go slightly more horizontal than shulk. He's just a roy. He should be around Roy in the tier list

He has a high skill ceiling… too high… It’s impossible to multi-main him.

Shulk is top tier because of his mu spread imo, he really only slightly loses to pika and that's it, palu and snake become even once you understand the mu. He has no hard counter against him whereas pika has ness and GnW to counter him.
