Charles Barkley said he's lost over 60 pounds since taking Ozempic competitor Mounjaro. Speaking on "The Pat McAfee Show" on May 26, the NBA star, 60, said that a weekly shot of the drug, along with healthy diet and exercise, had helped him lose the weight over a six-month period.

Ozempic muted the constant food nagging in my mind. I don’t like to admit I couldn’t do it without drugs, BUT I COULDN’T! 3 years of fat depression. I don’t need more than .25 mg. Mild nausea. 13 lbs in 2 weeks, though now about 2 lbs a week which is fine. Keto, and 4:20 intermittent fasting. Exercise, esp weights.

I'm watching these drugs in case I reach an impassable plateau. So far I'm down over 150 lbs with walking/hiking and intermittent fasting. I have 60 lbs to go till I get to a reasonable weight. I'll keep going with what I'm doing.

I just started taking Semaglutide from a compound pharmacy. My first shot was yesterday. I keep reading about stomach paralysis and thyroid cancer from Semaglutide. What is your opinion on this? I'm also a little disappointed. I can't really tell any difference today after my first shot. I was expecting to not want to eat, and have nausea, etc, but I really had no side effects and I didn't feel any different. Will this change once the dosage is raised? Thanks.

This drug is awesome I lost 42 pounds in 3 months. Was 242 went down to 200. I did have an issue with gout in my ankle from this medication so I had to stop it bc it came back once a week. Maybe I was not drinking enough water and eating enough protein but I’m starting back on it with gout meds. I gained 20 back in 3 months going off of it

The ultimate goal isn't just to lose weight, but to be able to keep it off long term. To keep it off requires a fundamental change to one's diet. So hopefully, Charles will use this time to also make permanent changes to his diet to move towards a lower calorie density diet that will help him keep the weight off. With a low calorie density diet he will still be able to eat the volume and weight of food needed to achieve satiety without over consumption of calories. However, if while taking this drug he is just eating less of the same foods that made him fat in the first place due to appetite suppressing nature of the drug, then when he discontinues the drug it is almost certain that he will go right back to eating the amount of those high calorie density foods needed to achieve satiety with an attended overconsumption of calories and he will go right back to being the "Round Mound of Rebound".
