The Supreme Court has allowed the release of Trump’s tax returns to House Democrats. Washington Post Deputy National Editor Phil Rucker, Politico White House Editor Sam Stein, and former federal prosecutor Glenn Kirschner join Chris Jansing to discuss. “It’s not a personal judgement about Trump,” Rucker explains. “It's just an assessment of the law.”

All of Congress should be thoroughly audited and investigated annually to ensure they are not receiving bribes and other ill-gotten gains.

I agree all office holders should be audited regularly.
Not just Trump..

It took five years (and lord only knows how much money) for this law suit to travel entirely through the court system. That's a seriously flawed system!

Criminals hate transparency and they hate to testify.
Innocent people love both.
See the pattern?

Funny how the IRS is right on my tax return, if I cheated they would know without having to look at copies of my tax return when the IRS already has my tax returns .

Such a joke. They have had plenty of time to get them. It’s a bunch of crap. It should have been done long ago.

I agree they all should give over their taxes returns I bet there is a lot of discrepancies on all their returns from Biden all the way down.

Please, you must also point out, the Senate can also have access to these records under the same law.

Doesn’t matter I will still be voting for President Trump. ❤

Never get tired of hearing other people's opinions about this subject, just to make the headlines, especially from somebody at the WP.

What has the Ethics Committee managed to do to make sure our politicians affairs are totally above board...and keep it that way...?
Is it time to reassess the practical goals and the roles of those that head up the Ethics Committee...?

Just give a copy of the tax returns to Alito, then we’ll all know what’s in them.

His taxes should've been scrutinized before he took office. The entire point of presidential candidates releasing their tax returns is so we can discern whether they're potentially problematic. For example, large debts or working with foreign nations could be a security risk.

Yes, get a hold of them if nothing more than for the embarrassment factor.

It’s so funny “assessment of the law”.😂😂

I would remind everyone that this is the same Donald Trump who promised in 2016 to follow the practice of all presidential candidates for decades and release his tax returns once an ongoing IRS audit was complete.

Man if they put this much effort into Paul Pelosi, the Laptop, of the FTX scandal.

Why can we not see every persons tax returns that are involved with Congress? So far, President Trump's is the only persons tax records I have heard anything about. I got a feeling there are several in Congress what would not want their tax records shown to the Public.. Let's see Pelosi's for instance..
