Canada: Vigil held for missing and murdered indigenous women

After more than two years of inquiries, the Canadian government is set to receive a report on indigenous women and girls who either went missing or were murdered.
But a day before going public, the report was leaked. It reportedly calls the disappearance and murder of possibly thousands of women a "Canadian genocide".

Indigenous women are not the only people mistreated by RCMP. White or colored, men, women and children also need to be included.

In the June 3 report titled "Reclaiming Power and Place", genocide is defined as "the sum of the social practices, assumptions, and actions detailed within this report" ... what an interesting appropriation/redefinition of terms so that they might meet a political agenda.

- 4000 women declared missing or murdered in post-WW2 Canada (more than 60-70 yearsin total) according to the report
- 70% of murdered indigenous women have been murdered by indigenous men, according to official data.

By that standard / definition Qatar and Bahrain are genocidal nations, too.

This is a gross misuse of the term “genocide”.This is a Socio economic and cultural problem… to get involved inAlcohol, drugs and prostitution are choices people make. These women are dead because of poor choices made… Not because of their ethnicity.
