How to Make Amazing Tomato Sauce with Fresh Tomatoes

I make this fresh tomato sauce every year with either my garden-grown tomatoes or summer tomatoes I find locally. The flavors are delicate yet bright and fresh with tastes of garlic, fresh basil, and sweet simmered tomatoes. There's nothing quite like tomato sauce made from scratch! You can gift it in jars to your friends & family, serve it with your favorite pasta or Italian dishes, or eat it on its own because it's just that good!

INGREDIENTS
5 lbs fresh plum/Roma tomatoes (or an assortment of tomatoes mixed with plum)
3 Tablespoons olive oil
5 garlic cloves
1 small to medium yellow onion
2 Tablespoons fresh basil
salt and black pepper

Hi Bethany
Loved this clip, and watched it twice.

My youngest daughter Emma is home on Sunday after two weeks in Italy.

She asked if i could make her and boyfriend Pizza when she gets back, as she had some amazing ones there.

I made a wood fired Pizza oven 3 years ago which we use a lot, so i said ok.

Im going to use your Tomato sauce as a base and just know it will be amazing, as always i will let you know.

My friend is going to supply the fresh tomato's, as I planted my tomato plants too late this year.

'Now they’re playing ketchup.'

It's a great summer sauce, but not just for pasta. This is Hero heaven sauce! I'd grill up some garlic bread, soft. Slice up some meatballs, pour your sauce over it and top it with some parmesan, thinly sliced mozzarella or provolone. Then I'd put it under the Spider just enough to melt the cheese. Makes for a great summer lunch or dinner. It's sweet you guys jar it for loved ones.

Love this simple recipe, Bethany! You are encouraging me to plant tomatoes! I was wondering if you were going to break out a hand crank food mill but I prefer my sauce with some body to it (using canned San Marzano I just break the tomatoes up with a wooden spoon right in the pan). With basil, I like to put whole sprigs into the sauce and then pull them out when they have wilted. The whole kitchen smells like basil! Thanks for sharing your family cuisine with us!

The fact that there wasn't any sauce on your shirt from simmering is goals. Honestly. I am the worst when it comes to tomato sauce.😂
Thanks again for a great video. Keep them coming.🎉

Hi Bethany. Super sauce. I sometimes make similar and add pre-cooked meatballs. It works too if you add those little Swedish meatballs and simmer them for 15 mins. Lovely cooking tips, thank you.

Beautiful! Definitely something to aspire to now that the farmer's market has tomatoes. Mine were ambushed by the squirrels and chipmunks! Cheers!

I love Amish Paste tomatoes. They are meatier and have way more flavor than Romas.
