Some people say that Hades is the main antagonist, but I think that the Fates are. First, they tempt Eurydice; then, they try to get Orpheus to give up; then, they tempt Hades; and finally, they overwhelm Orpheus with doubt, leading to Eurydice’s return to Hadestown.

I saw this show in person, and this song was such an underrated standout in the musical! This, Way Down Hadestown, and Wait for Me (1) were my favorites and really took my breath away.
