I studied math. That's definitely something worth going to college for.

If you wanna learn web development or be a web dev you dont need to go to college. But I think learning languages like java, python, c++ are very valuable and are true software engineering languages. In university you can learn cool things like AI, ML, data structures, alorithms, operating systems, etc. I know not everything is useful but a lot is, and even knowing the underlying theory of how it all works can help you become a better developer and problem solver.

People will say, "Yeah but at college and can study my interests" but you literally can look up any subject you want and learn more in a video than a whole semester.

Have you heard about IIT's or NIT's . The competition among children there are real motivation to grow in life.

that's why I prefer being self taught, it's free and you have the freedom to choose what language you want to learn and you're actually gonna learn something you'll use in the future

Classical education teaches fundamentals of how things work instead of just the language. Therefore, you don’t just know lang X, Y, Z; you learn how they work and can learn any language easily. Many also need the discipline that college teaches.

While it is expensive, it is still the safest route for a job. We will see how that changes in the coming years as a newer generation becomes hiring managers.

Yes coding isn’t computer science. College doesn’t teach asynchronous functions in JavaScript. Computer science teaches how to solve problems generally but not based on the underlying hardware or system.

Yeah bro, im like a shitty junior dev and i got a job, like if you keep the mentality of “know your place” you will be just fine, believe me, that calculator app that 2+2=22 is literally nothing compared to what you do in a company, for example u spend hours learning react, to start your first job with with coffee script as the frame work, or better, you spend hours learning how to make the modals template views shit from django, just for you to see some cursor shit from pewee, LEARN THE FUNDAMENTALS the rest u learn at the job, dont pay for bootcamps either, lost 6k when i could JUST READ DOCUMENTATION
