Hydras have a sack like body with skin that is two cells thick. There is one opening rimmed with tentacles that it uses for taking in food and eliminating waste. They live in un-poluted water. Their food consists of one celled organisms. They capture their food with Nematocysts in there tentacles, paralizing the prey.

But hydra are so interesting. It was discovered in the 1700's that if a hydra is turned inside out, the cells on the two layers migrate until they're in the correct positions again. Thanks for posting the video.

I had some of these that must have hitch hiked in with the Java Moss I bought - also came with ramshorn snail hitch hikers. The Hydra's are gone now, but I still (gladly) have the free snails that keep breeding : )

hooomy i used to have a huuge pop of hydra in my 10g. all disappeared when the tank went to hell, but after the dirt settles and the tank gets balanced, mbe ill find some in there again.. sigh.
