I could see someone or a small team making their own plate using a raspberry pi and abusing it to skip tolls. Besides tolls, if the cars stolen, someone could probably find a way to set up a sim card support so the text could be updated to stolen, over cellular networks.

This will become one of the most hacked items out there if it becomes the norm. People will temper with them, release programs on websites, and people will be driving around with emojis on their license plates lol

it’s not a conspiracy theory but this is definitely how they’re going to track your vehicle especially your electric vehicle and charge you a tax per mile that you drive. It’s some thing they’ve been talking about in California for a while now

In Australia people pay the equiv. of 700USD to buy custom plates.
I usually wouldn't spend more than a 1000AUD on a custom plate unless it was digital like this one.
If this ever comes to Victoria, imma get one

DOESNT MATTER HOW GOOD THEY ARE ITS THE COST, IN UK NEW PLATES IS £20, THESE LIKELY BE £600 + TO REPLACE, ALSO HOW MANY TIMES DO PEOPLE BUMP INTO YOUR CAR IN CAR PARKS ETC... !!!!

I own the hardwire option, you dont have to pay the full 700 upfront, its a subscription base option meaing you can pay like 20 a month and get one that way, stolen features dont work like that lets say you come outside and your plates gone then you have to call the police get a report then upload the report in the app and press stolen then it will display stolen on the plate, also as for theft the plate is installed with a star allen wrench so unless your walking around with the specific screws its increasingly hard to steal, location features is only avalible on the pro version of the plate, you can submit pretty much any quote you want to the DMV and once its approved your able to update the plate to your custom quote, when renewing your registration its done completely through the app, and updated almost instantly once the payment goes through you will also recieve physical tags in the meail along with updated copy of registration, if you have the 1960s vintage plate for cali thats the only vaniety plate that displays on the vehicle so thats a L. The live tracking feature is great Im able to see all of my trips and locate my vehicle when ever where ever so if the plate was stolen you can find it nearly instantly, lastly you also get text messages to let you know when your car is moving away from the location you left it which is pretty cool, plenty of updates to come but overall if your going to get a plate i would suggest the pro edition as the standard is highkey trash

For that kind of battery life, gotta be e-ink tech. But making it saying STOLEN its kinda neat if your putting this in a expensive car that could be stolen.
