Rashmi Muraleedhar is an instructor at the Undergraduate Writing Programme and teaches a course on Critical Thinking to first year undergraduates at Ashoka University.
She is a social science researcher, who graduated with a masters degree in International Relations from the University of Chicago and a masters in Politics from Jawaharlal Nehru University.

She says "facts don't demand to be proved"? They need to be proved in order to be accepted as facts. Some are readily accepted by any rational person, some are not that obvious and an argument must be presented to establish its truth.
When you present an argument based on some premises (which you claim are facts) some people will not accept them as facts and a new argument must be presented to "prove" or have your audience accept it as true.
