Old Weber Grill cleaned up.

I have an old Weber Spirit Grill that was in need of a little attention. Instead of going out and buying a new grill, we decided to rehab the one we had.

We are long time users of Weber Grills because they are worth it. Let me tell you a story about a weber grill that was passed down through four friends...

It started in the 90's, when my friend, Erik was given a used weber grill. He had it for years before finally passing it down to me. I then used it myself for many years.

When I finally upgraded to the new Weber Spirit Grill, I then passed the old Weber that was given to me by Erik, to my dear friend, Don. Don took the grill to his apartment, then to his lake house, and ended up going through the grill, replacing the burners and such, and proceeded to use the grill for several more years.

At this point, the hand-me-down Weber grill was now probably thirty-years old or more, and owned by four different families. Don was still using this generational hand-me-down Weber at his lake house, right up until he passed away... just ten months ago (Effff Cancer). The last I heard, the family put the grill away in a garage and I hope someday, it get's put back on a patio (somewhere) for a whole lot more grilling. If only that old Weber Grill could talk... the stories it could tell. LOL.

Okay, back on track... My Weber Spirit Grill doesn't owe me anything. My wife and I purchased this several years ago, and have used the crap out of it. When it got a little older, we stopped covering it after each use. Then, we left it outside during the winters, and really just stopped being good custodians of its care. But it still worked great and we love our Weber Grill.

We were thinking about replacing the old grill with a new Weber grill, until we saw the prices. That made us rethink our situation, and reflect on the story above, where, if you just take care of it, the Weber grill should last generations. So, that's what we decided to do. Simply update the parts that we needed, and maybe show the old grill a little more TLC.

We replaced the burners, grill grates, flavor savers (burner guards) and burner knobs. We made a new door for the lower cabinet and gave the entire grill a good wash down with the power washer.

Its all back together, and this video is our journey to get there.

Thanks for watching... smash that like button if you read this far... you certainly earned it.

Thanks for the video, hey do the new grill grates go the other way up? In the video you can see stand offs on the corners which at a total guess I'd think we're to suspend the grate off the BBQ itself?

You can save your grill grates and make it more sanitary by cooking on aluminum foil instead of directly on the grill.

How much money did you spend on replacement parts? How much time did you spend doing the rehab? How long did you go without a grill? What is the comparative price of a new grill?
These are the types of questions i ask before i start a project like that.
