I started listing 3 things everyday i was grateful for. Even the littlest thing I could be grateful for .ie. a cup of coffee. At the same time I walked every day round my ugly neighborhood, a crack in the pavement had a flower growing out of it - something to be grateful for. Changed my life. I stopped hating my life. I could move on. Months later I realised I love my life. No more depression.😊

The flipside to this, which isn't touched here, is that just keeping busy means you may never solve your problems as you're always just hiding from them in busywork.

Suffered from Hardcore depression in the military. Thought about ending it several times over. Literally prayed on it everyday when I felt myself giving in to giving up. I kept hearing a voice, saying, "Wait just a little longer. It'll get better. Wait and see." So I challenged the idea of it ACTUALLY getting better. I started to focus on hobbies and things I found interesting or fun. I started working out. A year and a half later I met someone who loved me for me. Stayed by my side. Years later, we had a little girl. Now she's my world. That wait, see part came true. This is for anyone who is thinking about giving up to giving in. Control the things you can control; your mind, your habits, even your friends, if they are always negative and toxic. People can bring you down as well. Focus on self-improvement and every little aspect of improving yourself. Like I say to my daughter every morning, "Get better every day."

Ruminating on your problems is an internal loop of chaos, actually TALKING about your probs & exposing them to the light of day can absolutely disrupt that inner chaos.

Absolutely! Constantly talking about your problems can sometimes amplify them and keep you stuck in a negative mindset. Instead, focus on finding solutions, taking action, and adopting a positive outlook.

So true, keeping busy and focused and exercising and making plans to put to action is best form of any past issues in your life. Dwelling and over thinking just causes more stress and anger and get nowhere !

This is excellent. I try all the time to stop the darkness. I don’t need meds, I have overcome my suicidal ideations. I try to overcome my problems by not overly being fixated on them. I try to be thankful each day for everything. Praise the Lord Jesus that he has everything covered.

It helps to talk about problems in order to get over something. Ruminating, on the other hand is a very different thing.

There's a difference in actually thinking about your problem and ruminating.Thinking about your problem means you're trying to come up with a solution.Ruminating means you're just thinking about the problem not the solution.

It's nice seeing that some people in the comments needed to hear this. This is why education is important. Having the knowlege and tools to manoeuvre through life is important. If you're struggling in life, start educating yourself on how you can better deal with your emotions.
