I practice many physical exercises, including crossfit, I have never been afraid of physical activity because I know that my body is healthy, but the last few weeks when I am going to start my exercise routine and the pain increases, when I finish they stop the symptoms. I have come to the conclusion that it is my perfectionism, I push myself a lot to have a perfect body.

This is really helpful Tanner.

So in the last 6 weeks I have formed a conditioned response to lying/sitting hard surfaces. These were not a problem 6 weeks ago. I realised today that when it started the weather had just turned cold and I went from lying outside in the sun for a nap to inside on carpet. It was an immediate association . I realised today that the emotion behind this is supreme anger. I am used to a lot of sun but living in Europe now, the sun is only part of the year and honestly the pain of lack of sun runs super deep.

Along with gradual exposure and messages of safety, presumably one must also do the emotional work that precipitated the whole thing…? Thank you. Appreciate your videos

Loved this so much I know you gave examples of how to slowly do this but a video going into a lot of detail would be amazing and basically walking us through the process.

Thank you for your helpful video! I developed a conditioned response to our bed which has unfortunately led to sleeping issues over the last year. Through viewing your videos, reading The Way Out by Alan & other valuable resources, I've gradually begun to get on track w/ better sleep. Who doesn't love Modern Family?

This is what I needed today. My really expensive mattress has become my pain trigger, which makes sleeping super difficult. I know I didn't have a problem with it before, because I actually sent a message a month ago telling a friend how much I loved my mattress and also remember sleeping a full eight hours and wanting to stay in bed longer because it was comfortable.
The most bizzare thing is that if I sleep on it in the when the sun is out, it's fine.
Hope to break this conditioned response soon as it's really affecting my sleep!

Thank you for this. Love your videos. How would you apply this to waking up with pain? I used to have insomnia, but sleep through the night now. I wake up and the pain is there (back pain, headache, leg pain). I have evidence it's neuroplastic, I was diagnosed by an MBS doctor, and I have tried somatic tracking as soon as I wake up, I tried doing nothing and just living my life, I tried visualizing myself waking up feeling good, messages of safety, telling my brain I don't need pain before going to sleep. There is no fear when I go to bed because I know it's neuroplastic pain and it will go away once I get up and get my day going.

Is this the same with brain fog in CFS? For example, o had gotten brain fog in social situations, so my brain viewed socializing as “danger” same concept applied?

I started running again after 25 years. All this time I've been telling myself that running is dangerous. I started gently, literally one step at a time, and it's going pretty well. The only problem is that I keep getting new pains. I don't know what to do then. Is this a real injury and should I stop, or is this also TMS? Does my brain want to stop/protect me? I find that very difficult. I don't want to stop, but is that wise? I want to continue, but I can only do that if it is TMS. And that is precisely the problem. I do not know.

How about safety around situations relationships. When you leave a toxic relationship. Is that also a condition response?

What about laying in bed? I can't do gradual exposure. I need to sleep or lay down because I can't sit either. I tried somatic tracking but no change.🤔

What about delayed pain? It's later or even the next day I get pain after walking or standing.

This is Epic Tanner! Appreciate it! Do you think the Conditioned Repsonse should be something easygoing & light? If having pain when sitting on a chair, : Like watching shows are chill but if you for example sit and game, the game can cause frustration then that might not be beneficial since its causing negative emotions? You said it should be something enjoyabe, gaming can be very upredictable 😅😁

The trigger to my bladder pain is emptying it. Bladder pain every time (for hours) except when I jump into cold water or have a bowel movement. Started after a severe urinary infection, 32 years ago. How...on earth...can I apply graded exposure to something totally unavoidable like urination?

This is an old video so I don't know if Tanner will see this comment but I'd dearly love to know the answer. Thanks ⚘

Thank you. I don't have any psychological associations though. I wake up early every morning as my back hurts so much so I'm not even thinking about it. What do you do in that situation?
