In preparation for Operation IceBridge's Antarctica 2011 campaign, flight crews at NASA Dryden worked to outfit the DC-8 aircraft -- NASA's long-haul "workhorse" -- with an array of different instruments designed to measure sea ice, ice sheets, and even the bedrock below Antarctic glaciers.

@Shift4chizzle It's the Airborne Topographic Mapper, which measures the height of the ice below. Looks pretty sweet when you pass through fog or clouds.

The ice was a crystal god many thousands of years old. Call to that spirit for help, save it's soul before it melts -- this is the "thinking cap" of EARTH, help the planet to remain sane by your good will and love for everything that is good. --

@watermelonpizza -- in elvish, the word "melon" means "friend".. however, in the film, I recall Gandalf spoke the elvish word for friend, and it sounded more like "Bellah" and that sounds like another name for "all ah" -- The lady type are willing to believe there are two earths, but the wise see this as a clever lesson and a trial to that government that dabbles in the psychic pools of people, in the imagination land of the innocent -- this seccond earth is a warrning sign and a sign of war.--
