I have a Pentax Q as well, it was my first interchangeable lens camera and got me a lot to the way through a photojournalism class

I own a GM-1 but am more likely to leave the house with a GM-5, which is essentially the same size but adds an electronic viewfinder and a hot shoe. My lenses of preference for these tiny bodies are the LUMIX 20mm f1.7 and the Olympus 45mm f1.8, which is a pretty decent portrait lens.

I’m really happy for you! I bought one from Japan in brown with a silver 12-32. It’s a good little camera, and makes a lovely necklace, too. I get compliments on it, but people don’t realize what a capable camera it is. It’s awesome. 😁

This is a great little camera! My father gave me one a few years ago when he upgraded. I didn't realize what a gem it really is until recently when I started trying it with more lenses beyond just the kit zoom.

I just got one a month ago and am intending to use it for some travel. Absolutely love my GM1. Really happy with the results. I hadn't used M43rds much since 2013. I was also pleasantly surprised by the video performance. Despite the poor codec the better sensor seems to result in better video quality than my old GH3. My only complaint is it's too easy to accidentally hit the D-pad and pull up white balance or similar while adjusting aperture, etc. Touch screen works great though.

Camera pairs really nicely with my old 20mm f/1.7 first gen and I picked up the Lumix 42.5mm which fits great on it and the added stabilization is great.

I've found myself reaching for this over my Fuji rangefinder recently because, as you say, versatility and interchangeable lenses in a small package is amazing. My sling bag is the 20mm, the 42.5mm, and the 7-14mm f/4.0 which is one of my all time favorite lenses. If i was shopping now though I'd do the 9mm f/1.7. Would be perfect set of tiny primes.

I love mine. I’ve had it for about 8 years now. I ditched the pancake lens and use a Leica made lens which is bigger than the camera. I’ve had many people surprised that I took a pic of them. It’s so discreet and just works great.

Always admired the GM1 - it's one of the most extreme expressions of what makes M43 great. Funny you mention the E-PL6 and it's horrendous menus because it was picking that very camera up that started to bring me around to M43. Yes, the full menu system was horrible, but the quick menu had everything I thought I'd need day to day on it and was quite well implemented. That said, Panasonic menus are so much more intuitive and make you feel like you've had the camera for years, right from the first day. I didn't take the plunge into M43 until 3 years ago, when I bought a used E-M10 MkII and now I'm hooked. It's jacket pocketable with the like of a Meike 28mm f/2.8 or the Panny 12-32, but a GM1 with that body cap lens would be jeans pocketable and that's a trump card in some cases. Definitely tempted!

Hi, is gx880 a good first camera? Originally I was looking for a gx80, but I'm not able to find it new... And I want my first camera to be new...

I entered the photography world more than two years ago with my first mirrorless camera: an olympus omd em10 mark II paired with a lumix 20mm f1.7 lens. I love it! It's pretty pocketable, great vintage look and it makes me happy with the results I get :D I don't see me changing system very soon

I’m new to your channel and I have been enjoying learning about the wonderful world of micro 4/3.😊 Thinking of getting one myself but I’m not sure what to get. Want a camera that’s small enough to fit in a pocket but capable and is a bit future proof with its specs. I’ve sort of narrowed it down to 2. Lumix GM5 and the GX85. Which do you think is the better one? I wanna pair it up with the 20mm f1.7. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.😊

Hi Emily. Happy New Year! I was wondering if you would know how a Panasonic 35-100mm lens would work with an Olympus OM-D-EM10 camera. My concern is that the lens has OIS and no switch to shut it off. Will the OIS work against the IBIS in my camera?? What do you think? Have you ever tried this lens. On what camera(s) did you try it? Please give me your opinion. I am a Micro 4/3 nerd as well. Okay I am a nerd in training... (an NIT!)

Thanks for your answer. :)

Just got mine! It’s black on back, sporting the f/1.7 20mm pancake. That 16 megapixel packs a punch 🙌

I've just ordered one from eBay, as a Lumix S5 user I'm looking forward to something much more pocketable!
And hello to a fellow Mancunian! 👋🏻

Are there any modern m43 cameras that are this compact? Or similar? I was excited for the new m43 Panasonic was putting out but it turned out to be the g9ii
