This video explains in detail how the diode module model EMG 22-DIO 4E-1N5408 - 2952790 works in a very easy-to-follow format.

A diode is a device that allows current to flow in only one direction.
That means if you add a diode to an electrical circuit, the current can only flow in one direction.

For example, in this diode module, the current can only flow from point 2 to point 1 but if it attempts to flow from point 1 to point 2, it will be blocked by the diode. Very simple, right?

As a matter of fact, this diode symbol also tells us the same thing. The arrow says the current can flow in one direction, meaning from point 2 to point 1, and if it attempts to flow in the other direction, it will be blocked. So the little line in the symbol is the block sign.

This is a simple indicator to let you know that current will be blocked if it attempts to flow from point 1 to 2. But if it attempts to flow from point 2 to 1, the diode will let the current pass.

We have four points or terminals on each side of this module.

There is one diode between each of the two terminals. That means we have a diode between terminal 1 and 2 and three other diodes for the rest of the terminals.

Now we think you already have a good idea about how this module works.
Yes, as you properly already guessed, this module only allows the current to pass from terminal 2 to 1, 4 to 3, 6 to 5, and 8 to 7.

That simply means if we add this module to an electrical circuit, the current can only flow from the bottom four terminals to the four terminals at the top.

And if the current tries to flow from the opposite direction, it will simply be blocked!
As you can see, this is something that is clearly stated by the four diode symbols on the module as well.

If you take a closer look at the diode module, you can see the diodes inside the module here as well. As you can see, there is a line on each end of the diodes which shows that if the current attempts to flow from the opposite direction, it will be blocked.

So you use a diode module when you need the current to flow from only one direction.

Dear, I have used these modules before to protect PLC DC outputs connected to inductive loads. I really love your videos but it's the first time that I have to tell you the information is not complete, some applications examples would be very useful for beginners

As a maintenance mechanic who's moved into the CNC world your videos are awesome

A pretty common use of these modules is when you want to add a button for testing all the lamps on your electrical panel as long as the lamps operate on dc voltage

I am currently working in Phoenix contact as a position of product specialist seeking interface products such as relays signal conditioners etc. These diode modules comes under my product group.😊😊

Why we use diode, I mean I known to make the current flow in one direction but why we do that, when we need this ?
Thank you ♥️♥️

I would REALLY like to find a user manual for Seimans 840d controls! I’m a operator looking to get a leg up in order to advance.

Hi,
Thanks a lot for the high quality vedios.
My question is: in which situations we need to use this module?
It look like, that its useful while using DC current, and to block the coming back current to protect the other Devices befor the Diodes.
I never saw this module before, and i hope that u answer my question.

I encourage to everyone that want learn or already are industrial automation field, go to RealPars platform, is really the best place to do it.
This team is simply awesome the way that teach, even better than your college. I'm on it, and I can give a proof of that. It's really good investment.
Thanks RealPars
