Easy Italian Sausage Spaghetti Recipe - In 30 Minutes

This Italian sausage spaghetti recipe is ridiculously easy. Made with t simple combination of Italian sausage, canned spaghetti sauce, tomato sauce, and some herbs and spices, the outcome is simply out of this world. I always make it up as a midweek meal as it only takes about thirty minutes to make.

I use the medium Italian sausage as I add chilli flakes to the recipe, but if you are adventurous and like heat, hot ahead and use the hot or a few more chilli flakes. The great thing is, if you don't like heat in your sauce, simple cut back or use the mild.

Intredients:

400 grams or 1/2 pound of Italian sausage
3 cloves of chopped garlic
1/4 of a large chopped onion
1 650 ml jar of Italian spaghetti sauce
1 small can of tomato sauce
1/2 tbsp of Italian seasoning
1/2 tsp of hot pepper flakes
salt and pepper to taste
350 grams of spaghetti
cheese for grating
a few more hot pepper flakes and dried basil for garnish

Method:

Add some oil to a preheated pan over medium high heat.
Put the sausage in, stir fry for about 4 minutes or so until cooked through and brown.
Place the onion and garlic in. Saute until fragrant and the onions begin to become translucent.
Pour the spaghetti and tomato sauce in followed by the Italian seasoning, pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Stir until well combined.
Bring to a boil, reduce the heat to low, place a lid on, and allow it to simmer for 10 to 12 minutes while the pasta cooks.
Place the spaghetti in salted boiling water and cook until al dente.
Plate and ladle some sauce over the top.
Garnish with basil, pepper flakes, and cheese.
Serve and enjoy your easy Italian spaghetti.

This sounds good. Haven't had spaghetti in a while. Roommate will be on vacation so it might give me some time to cook. Can't wait for the vintage recipes!

My secret ingredient to most tomato based sauces is anchovy paste...adds a umami dimension to the flavor...if you get a chance, try it...I find it amazing 🍝

I made the Capsicum Sandwich it turned out great. I wasn't a fan of Capsicum but now I am. Thanks for this receipe as well Dave. Will try it soon. It is lock down here in certain areas and second wave has happened after 1 year. Covid 19 variant B1617 came here from India and rest is history but we are managing it well. Stay safe my friend. I make this when I need a pasta fix. I like the hot sausage. Some of those Depression recipes were great. I think there's an older lady on YT that makes them. 40's weren't really the Depression but people were still making them then. Say hi to the doogies.

Dave my friend, nice recipe, I like to mix 50-50 sweet to hot Italian sausage, if I use the links, I live the casing on like you, here they also sell Italian sausage that is ground up like ground pork or beef, depends on your recipe or mood, & yes the grand daughters will eat this with salad & garlic bread on the side, they are such good, healthy eaters & they are not overweight. btw, the vintage cookbooks are great, I like the older, simpler things pal

Italian Sausages are strange things to get here in the UK. The nearst I have seen is "Italian Style" sausage which taste no different to normal sausage. I keep threatening to make up some but without the casing cos most recipes I have seen take it out of the skin so I wasn't going to bother putting it into skins :-).
Sure I can find an alternative and like Becky below you have given me some inspiration for the evenings meal. Thank you.
