Epiphone Vs Gibson: Vintage 60s P90 edition

Not a true comparison a solid body vs a semi hollow. The epi sounded better. Back then though they weren’t a second tier brand they were an older company and one of Gibsons biggest competitors and were the standard of stringed instruments for a while. Les Paul took the log to epiphone and they sent him away, he took it to gibson they mulled over some changes and still didn’t believe in it enough to put their brand alone on it. They didn’t know what to call it. Les suggested his name. Had epiphone picked up the LP design we would all be chasing 59 epiphone bursts.🤷‍♂️

The sound of the 1st is harder, louder. The 2nd is softer, whisperer. They have totally different caracters.

The epi is brighter the Gibson is warmer. Both sound great

🟦....For some reason the Gibson seems to have a touch more reverb, but I think the "Growl" from the Epiphone is less gritty, more even-toned and slightly warmer.

I prefer the look of the Gibson, but that Epi definitely sounds better. It just has more guts and growl to it.

That Epiphone won me over before I ever heard the Gibson, that Epi sounds great !

Your comparing a solid body with a full hollow body. I prefer the growl of the Epi for that riff. A 60's Junior would have been a better comparison. Oh and I'd take the 330 for sure.

That Epi has a dirty growl to it. They both sound awesome obviously. But for this riff, the Epi takes it.
BTW, I don’t recognize that riff, but it’s awesome.
