I have an S10 plus and based on your video, I decided to try this out. I was able to find a new HP Lapdock for around $200 on ebay.
The S10 plus doesn't connect to the lapdock as smoothly as an S9 does. It seems the phone has to have media playing while you are trying to connect with the cable or the screen remains black. There is a thread on XDA developers about this. Once connected, the user experience seems to be the same as yours.I don't know if the connection issue is due to software or hardware (phone or cable).
Despite the odd connection requirement, I'm really amazed at how productive I can be with Dex.

Hey! Appreciate you digging into this very promising tech! I am using a similar setup (a usb-c monitor) and have run into a few issues. I'm contacting you to see if you have seen the same. First, my Samsung LED flip cover does not play nice with DeX when connected by USB-C instead of HDMI. No big deal, but today I noticed that I cannot use S-Pen input in this same setup. Normally I can click the notification that says "use screen as touchpad", then remove the S-pen to use it as a mouse. Over USB-C this is not the case. If you could test this I would appreciate it!

I got myself an HP lapdock. For some reason, when I'm in DEX mode, I can't hear anything when I play youtube videos. Other wise, it works great. I use it with a Logitech Bluetooth mouse that allows me to connect to 3 different devices! Anyway, if you could give me some pointers, that would be great! Thanks!

I'm having issues where I plug in the Dex and I can't choose the 4k resolution. It only limits me to 1080 resolution. Any solutions to this? My monitor is 4k and my tv is 4k

Please let people know about the model numbers. Not all of them seem to work. Mine works with note 9 (snapdragon) but it's the model that starts with v8.. Check out xda developers website for more info.
