Infiniti G35x G37x Crossmember Subframe Brace Replacement/Upgrade

This video is to help repair the crossmember subframe brace on earlier model Infiniti G35 and G37 AWD sedans. The brace is slightly different for the coupes and is not on RWD models. The brace on these car tend to rust and rot thru especially in colder climates that use road salt where the AWD models tend to be sold. To fix this issue you can get a new brace for around $500-$700 or pick up a used one from a parts yard which can be hard to find in the older style that is not rotted. The design was changed on the 2013 G37 to the one I used and continued on to the Q40 and newer Q50 platform. The newer brace is slightly heaver but much more solid and durable looking. Below are some of the part numbers and tools you will need. This may apply to other Infiniti models as the same parts are cross referenced for the EX and M models.

Part numbers:
New style brace: 544B2-JK51B
Old style brace: 544B2-EG300
Bolt: 11298-EG30A (8 required, 14mm)

Tools Needed:
14mm Hex drive socket
Ratchet/Impact
Grinder or drill to remove thread

I can confirm this part fits on the coupe. Wasn't able to find a decent used one so i ordered a new one from partsouq for $426 (incluides shipping). Part fit perfect after making the small mods descrbided. Much appreciated Justin!

Thanx Justin, my mechanic just today found a large rust hole in my 2011 brace and I need a replacement.  I was freaking at the potential cost.  Thank goodness I found your video... thx a bunch!

I replaced mine last year du to the rust and now I saw the rear is rusted as hell. I simply touched it and it broke iin the middle. I bought a new one at the dealer for about $150, now I just need to get it installed..I will try to look for the new one now. tks for the video

If one of the outer end bolts is snapped off, what's up in the body as a nut ? Is it an encased nut, or one of the insert rivet things that can be replaced easy ? I haven't got it in the air yet to check it out good, and wondering if I'll need a new piece or plan to drill and tap something.

Bringing this back up because i need this done now. But besides the 2 bolts you griund down were the other grind marks you referenced for clearing the control arms thos bolts or part of the metal housing for the brace?

If I were to replace it myself, would I need to support anything while replacing it, or can I just unbolt it and replace it?

Not sure if you read comments on older stuff but when you swapped yours did you have to do anything special with the motor or just unbolt the subframe and swap? I’m still looking for videos but yours came up

Could you please describe more about the modification that you had to make to get if to fit? Something about grinding off something, but I can't really tell from the video. I have the same car and the brace is rusted out and won't pass the state inspection. The old part is not available anywhere due to supply chain issues and I am hoping I can find the newer part and use that.
