There are few things I'd like to correct about the video:

1.) About the lake being "closed to tourists"--
The reason the lake is closed every so often is because of tourists harming the jellyfish, not the other way around! Rough swimming with flippers and the usage of non-coral-safe sunscreen kills the jellyfish. Additionally, around 2015, a long drought caused a steep drop in jellyfish population, which led to a lake closure for some time. Palau is very passionate about environmental conservation, and so the lake is closed in order to protect this rare jellyfish population from decline. The lake is open seasonally, and as far as I know, tourists can still go to the lake to visit and swim among the jellies. (As of right now, with Covid, I'm not entirely sure. It's at least open to residents/locals.)
2.) About the lake being "dangerous"--
I feel like this information was not presented properly. The jellyfish are not dangerous, but the lake itself is. Diving is strictly prohibited due to the nature of the lake's depths: after 15m below the surface, the water has no oxygen or light. There's dissolved poisonous gas at the bottom. So, the only reason it's "dangerous" to go to jellyfish lake is because way below the jellyfish where people swim, the water is quite poisonous. It's not dangerous whatsoever to swim, but this is NOT a diving spot. (Palau has dozens more places for amazing diving, though!)
3.) Something not mentioned about why the jellyfish do not have a sting is actually that they don't have any food source aside from the algae that grows (inside the jellyfish) in the lake. Rather than having to sting prey, the jellyfish have a specific algae growing in their tissues, called zooxanthellae, which get sunlight while the jellyfish move around the sunny parts of the lake and provide the jellies with nutrients.

Overall I think the video was great, and I'm glad so many people seem to be interested in the lake, and Palau as a result!

“It can be possibly dangerous to you” “these jellyfish are totally harmless and can’t sting”

"They can't hurt you but you aren't allowed there because it could hurt you." What?

There is a same type of jellyfish in Indonesia, and me and my familly swam in the lake with so many of that jellyfish, i remembered the color and the shape of that jellyfish, but they are so fragile, so if you accidentally kick/slap them while swiming, they might just split in half and die

There’s many jellyfish that don’t sting. Moon jellyfish for example, used to wash up on shore all the time when I was growing up in Hawaii. They’re completely harmless and feel like jello.

I’ve swam in this lake before (back in 2016 or 15). It was an absolutely amazing experience! You can literally touch the jellyfishes. But You do have to take a clean water bath to wash off materials that might potentially contaminate the lake (I.e. salt)

“Meaning that you can swim with them”

“Unfortunately you can’t swim with them”

*visible confusion*

"Safe to swim" "tourists can't swim"

The main purpose of the jellyfish stings isn't protection, it's for hunting. There's also no prey in the lake for them to feed on. These jellies have a symbiotic relationship with the algae that was growing in the lake, they absorbed the algae into their bodies and follow the sun as the day passes so the algae can generate energy for them through photosynthesis. It's actually really cool and I'm surprised they didn't address it in the video.

Are we just gonna ignore the fact that the most common jellyfish in THE WORLD is the moon jelly, which is ENTIRELY harmless and cannot possibly do anything to you?

The jelly fish got very lucky, like a family randomly struck with wealth and their entire bloodline can live without working for generations.

There are literally tons of jellyfish that don't sting you lol, in Ireland you can find thousands on the beach and water even alive sometimes, but they cant sting you.

I've actually learned about this in my pacific studies class back when I was in 6th grade! Just for some context, I had pacific studies since I lived on an island in the Pacific Ocean near the equator, it's one of the many islands in the Northern Marianas Islands. But yeah, we had to do an essay about what tourist destination we would personally like to visit in Palau, me and a huge majority of my classmates at the time chose the jellyfish lake, I'm really hoping to actually visit it someday.

Actually that is one the most famous tourist attractions there...I went there for a field trip and tourists are actually allowed there as well.
