[COMPLETE] Mortefi Build, Team Comp, and Character Guide - Wuthering Waves

As a member of the Academy Department of Safety, Mortefi possesses unique ability to transform his frustration into Fiery Flames.

My name is Timothy Randy and THIS is the in depth guide on how to build Mortefi.

Mortefi is a 4 Stars Fusion character and uses Pistol as his weapon.
He is very universal and I will be blunt to say this, Mortefi is a MUST HAVE. Here's why:

For starters, he's a strong SubDPS for any selfish Main DPS.
He provides OFF-Field additional damage with his skills.

The Outro Skill buff is very suitable for Jiyan, making it Jiyan’s best support so far.
On top of that, Kuro Games just buffed his skill cooldown on yesterday's patch - May 26th.

Mortefi Skills Priority:
I want you to understand that Mortefi's buffing ability comes from the his Outro Skill, which provides 38% Heavy Attack damage deepen for 14 seconds or until you switch to other character.

First, Mortefi's ultimate called Burning Rhapsody. This is where his source of damage comes to play as an excellent OFF-FIELD SubDPS.

When the on-field character’s BASIC ATTACK hits the target, Mortefi will fire 1 Marcato.
When the on-field character’s HEAVY ATTACK hits the target, Mortefi will fire 2 Marcato.

Therefore, Mortefi's skills priority is to level up the Resonance Liberation, then Forte Circuit, followed up by Resonance Skill, Basic attack, and Intro Skill.

Mortefi Rotation:
When you switch to Mortefi, that is the intro skill.
Use resonance skill, then immediately use his Echo skill, Ultimate, and swap to your Main DPS. That is Outro Skill.

ECHO:
I recommend the Impermanence Heron since it is the best for him because of the Echo's ability.
Upon using the echo skill and hits target, Mortefi will get 10 Resonance Energy.

For Main stats, Echo that's cost 4, you want to have CRIT rate% or Crit DMG%
At cost 3, aim for Energy Regen%
At cost 1, aim for ATK %

As for the Substats,
First is CRIT Rate/Crit DMG. Second best is ATK%. 3rd is Energy Regeneration%, fourth is Resonance Skill DMG%, fifth is Resonance Liberation DMG%

Remember to put Impermanence Heron as your main Echo in the first slot.
Mortefi's best Echo set is a 5 pcs Moonlit Clouds.
Alternatively, you can use 2 molten rift and 2 Moonlit Clouds.
Equipping 2 pcs of Molten Rift gives Fusion damage, though I strongly suggest 5 pcs Moonlit Clouds.

WEAPON:
Currently the best weapon for Mortefi is the 5 stars Static Mist because as a SubDPS, this weapon increase the ATK of the next character.

Second best is 4 stars weapon between Undying Flame or Cadenza depending on ATK% or Energy Regeneration% as SubStats.

The Battle Supplies weapon ThunderBolt rank 3rd and it is optional. Meaning I will not be redeeming my 4 star weapon selector for Mortefi's ThunderBolt.

You can get these weapons from the novice, beginner, or permanent convene banner.

SEQUENCE:
As for his sequence, for him to be very viable TOP TIER main SubDPS he needs at least 1 Sequence.
The best for Mortefi is sequence 1, 4, and 6.
At sequence 1, his Ultimate will fire 2 Marcato hits for the on-field character.
At sequence 4, the duration of his Ultimate extended by 7 seconds.
At sequence 6, he buffs the whole team members ATK by 20% after using his ultimate.

TEAM COMP:
Mortefi is universally good SubDPS 4 star character. He doesn't need to stay on field. In fact, best to put him off field quick swap.
The best teamcomp for him should be 1 Main DPS that relies on both Basic Attack and Heavy Attack such as Jiyan or Encore.
1 SubDPS Mortefi, and 1 pure support such as Verina or Baizhi.

For Support healing and buffing, you can select either Verina or Baizhi.
Verina will provide 20% attack buff to entire team. Similar as Mortefi at Sequence 6 and yes, it is stackable.

Note that I do not have all characters maxed out due to Wuthering Waves just being released which resources are the most valuable and tight at the moment.
So for now, I am utilizing what I have access to in order to provide valuable information for you.

Mortefi is not a good sub dps for encore because encore usually basic attack instead of heavy attack.. you will waste his outtro buff if you put him with encore which is half his kit.. BiS sub dps for encore as of this patch will be sanhua as she buffs her basic attack. putting mortefi with encore is kind of a waste as you will not be able to maximize the heavy attack damage buff as much as jiyan, danjin or even jianxin for that matter whose major dps come from heavy attacks

two ER cost 3 echoes are way overkill; you realistically only need 130 ~ 150 ER; which 1 cost 3 echo with main stat ER and some substat should suffice, this is much easier to hit if you have his BiS static mist that gives another 12.8% ER so you really dont need that much ER; fusion damage % or atk % will be better.. you don't need resonance skill % damage as sub stat as majority of his contribution to damage is his buff to your main dps and off field damage from his resonance liberation so his r.liberation takes priority over r.skill and even ER if you have around 140+- ER
