I’m super annoyed with how unrealistic this is. This type of scene is the reason why some people are afraid of flying, and this exact scenario would never happen in real life.

I realize this clip is probably taken from a movie, perhaps where the indecisive controller finds out about his new ability to see the future etc... Regardless, I do not know a lot about aviation, but still feel the entire scenario is definitely worthy of a nuclear facepalm...

1) Incoming plane first suffers from large passenger-scaring shake (hopefully caused by something else in the movie and not a meaningless jolt).
2) Pilots of both planes are aware of an incoming collision, but choose to continue course (even despite no response from ATC!) .
3) ATC tower is full of controllers who are also aware of the incoming collision. Instead of contacting the pilots, they decide to show stressful facial expressions along with frustrated arm waving.
4) Continuing this, the elder controller even commands one of the younger guys to contact the pilots. Unfortunately for some reason, all his training as an ATC is rendered useless while "Dylan" is daydreaming.
5) "SA841 clear to land, GA950 punch it!" - This sounds like the worst possible way to handle the landing... Unless his goal was to decrease the gap between aircraft, why would he confirm SA941 to land at all? Couldn't they have powered out and came back around? Also at the time of his "punch it" command, GA950 appeared to have half the runway remaining to abort take-off.

Many see a super dramatic action scene. I See a LOT of Revoked Licenses and People without Jobs.

2. The Supervisor for not stepping in
3. Both Aircrews for shutting their Brains completely off. Not able to follow the simplest princibles.

Well i do know that airline pilots should trust ATC, but when ATC doesn’t respond a “go-around” the pilot should definitely go-around

yeah.... like there is special option to squeeze additional 30% boost from the engine just when ATC- operator say PUNCH IT!!!

I guess that “go around” wouldn’t have been as exciting? “Punch it” is definitely what an ATC controller would say. I still think this is too realistic. The airplanes should also start their afterburners and maybe do a loopty loop as my 3 year old would call it. There is a difference between poetic license in the name of a good narrative and just bad storytelling. With the eyes of the he two pilots, ATC and even the “protagonist”, there was just no need for drama. airplane landing go around, airplane taking off abort takeoff. Easy.
