scared to use fluoride toothpaste? #shorts

If you’re avoiding fluoride toothpaste, you may want to reflect on WHY. Have you been advised to purchase a non-fluoride product from someone who sells that specific type of product?
The benefits of fluoride in preventing tooth decay and strengthening tooth enamel are supported by decades of scientific research and public health outcomes, endorsed by credible health organizations, such as @who, @cdc, and @ada.
🦷 FLUORIDE AMOUNTS:
Ingested from toothpaste = 0.1 mg for adults
Ingested from toothpaste = 0.1 to 0.25 mg for kids
✏️ Sodium fluoride toxicity = ~11.0 mg/kg
✏️ A tube of toothpaste contains ~1.0 mg of sodium fluoride/gram of toothpaste
🦷 EXPLANATION: For an adult who weighs about 150 lbs, this would amount to ~750 mg of sodium fluoride (eating 4-7 tubes of toothpaste in one sitting). That’s WAY more than 0.1 mg (which is the amount we may ingest from toothbrushing). For a child weighing about 40 pounds, they would need to ingest ~200 mg of sodium fluoride to reach the toxic dose. This means a child would need to eat 1.0-1.5 tubes in one sitting to reach toxic levels. Nobody should be eating toothpaste, just like we shouldn't be eating chapstick, shampoo, soap, etc…
🦷CONCLUSION: Normal usage of fluoride toothpaste (ingesting trace amounts while brushing) is far below toxic levels.
