Nicola Sturgeon says Truss resignation was 'inevitable the moment she walked into Downing Street'

Nicola Sturgeon has said a general election is a 'democratic imperative' after Liz Truss announced her resignation as leader of the Conservative Party.
Scotland’s First Minister also hit out at the Tory Party and said that the current Prime Minister's decision to quit 'was probably inevitable the moment she walked into Downing Street" and that the UK political system was 'broken'.
Truss announced on Thursday she would be standing down after less than two months in office, with a successor to be appointed in a week-long contest.
