62 countries have gained their independence from Westminster for example the Republic of Ireland, Canada, Australia and New Zealand etc.
Many other countries around the world have gained their independence for example Norway from Sweden and Czech Republic and Slovakia etc.
All these countries have a currency, defence forces and trade with other countries around the world.

I'm an English man who emigrated to Ireland after brexit. This carefully thought out plan for not only independence but reunification with the EU is the best news against the terrible shame which my country of birth has brought upon itself and its neighbours. First, she speaks very well. Secondly, this is a pro-Scottish not an anti-English sentiment (as many would attempt to make it). Paul's comment is correct. The ideal would have been Scotland in UK and the EU - no cross-border trading issues and checks. However, institutionally (our baccalaureate -based education system, our established church and our legal system), all resound to a Continental European imperative. Finally, the only strategic concern is our declining birth rate!
