in my opinion they need to be outed out for cheating their customers.

Hey John! I'm so glad you addressed the estate sale scammers. I've experienced the same thing and worse for years here on the East Coast. It's a sin and a shame that they are screwing the clients and also wasting our time.

We have a nearby company that is a SCAM. Their prices are insane. The rooms messy like what you showed. And, then we found out they have a store front to sell (for their own benefit) what didn't sell. Yup. After 3 visits - because we only saw the sign and didn't connect the dots - until we got there. Boy, oh Boy! What a SCAM. We go out of our way to AVOID them. Thank you for sharing. How sad for the family members of the estate.

Wow. That sale was a mess. Nothing cleaned up, things piled all over, and so expensive! Disgraceful.

I stopped going to estate sales for the same experience. Too overpriced and they don't negotiate. I feel bad for the family who hired them. They are getting scammed and they probably don't realize it.

100% agree on the note about paying attention to the companies. When I was flipping furniture, it was very obvious which companies were regularly pricing realistically and which weren't.

We have so many of these bait estate sale companies in Phoenix. I won't waste my time with them anymore - i want nothing to do with them.

Sad to see that this happens. Unfortunately, it happens more often than most would realize. I see it a lot locally and make a mental note to never attend their sales in the future.

Wait...did I miss the Grand opening of Toys R Us or Macy's out front?! Ridiculous, selling for retail prices and even higher! Here in Toronto we have the same thing with a lot of these scam Estate sale companies keeping pennies on the dollars. Also, I've seen where these companies charge for cleanup/ clear out costs after sales are done!

I’ve identified a couple of the scam estate sale companies in my area. One, for example, had tons of sealed DVD and Blu Rays, including rare stuff worth money. They had a sign on the wall, DVDs $4 each. I grab like a stack of like 40 DVDs. Get to the checkout and they claim their sign meant $4 per DVD in the case. Season 1 of a show with 5 DVDs? They wanted $20.

Ended up putting majority of them away and walked away with like the 5 most valuable and talked them down on the price a little.

Sounds like an Options estate sale. They are the absolute worst. Refuse to go to their sales. They are straight up trash.

Really sad thinking about it looks like that room was like a 30-40 year old guy that just recently passed and there just selling his stuff off I know this is common but it's sad to think about. The dude that owned all the stuff was defintily a collector he had a bunch of cool things. By the looks of it everything was overpriced by $10-$20 judging by the MS-11 Geloog 1:54 goes for $10-$20.

thank you for the info. That is unfortunate that there are companies like that out there.

Thank you for this video!! I went to an estate sale that I dug through a ton of stuff and they saw what I chose and denied me several items saying they didn’t know it was there and it was not for sale. Thought I was mistaken, but this video proved me wrong, THEY wanted what I chose for themselves! Again thank you!!

Fortunately most of the estate companies around here put on clean and organized sales. One company does have trashy sales, however, they cater to the low value estates so they just say pick out stuff and bring it here for a price. (sometimes good deals!)
I have asked all of the regular estate sale companies here - What happens to the items not sold? - They all give one of the following answers:
1. We have a buyer who will clear everything for an agreed price. (Of course that could be Uncle Guido with a Mercedes from the old country)
2. The left-overs go back to the family.
The absolute best estate sales are run by family members of grandpa and grandma. They always seem to give good deals and I would bet that those family members actually get more money than hiring a professional company.

Really appreciate your advice here. Thank you so much for sharing your experience with Estate Sales. ❤

This is why when liquidating it’s ALWAYS better to go with an auctioneer and not an estate sale company. In most states auctioneers are licensed and bonded and heavily regulated by the state. Anyone on any day can be an estate seller. Most auctions are online now instead of in person but it’s always better to deal with a licensed bonded and trained professional than a fly by night anybody.
