Most Popular Car Types Based on Different Body Styles | Types of Cars

1. Cabrio Coach
A Cabrio coach or semi-convertible is a type of car that has a retractable textile roof.
It is an inexpensive alternative to a full convertible.
They are basically the types of cars with large sunroofs. Sunroofs of Cabrios can be opened or closed as per the requirements. 

2. Convertibles
Convertibles have also got an alternative name “cabriolet”.
Cars with this particular style can be converted to an open air vehicle from an enclosed car, varying in degree and means by model.
These roofs automatically folds away into the trunk of the car.

3. Coupe
Coupe  is a closed two-door car body style with a permanently attached fixed roof, that is shorter than a sedanof the same model.
These style cars have 2 long doors with 2 or 4 seats.
The front part of the vehicle looks longer and has a compact rare area.
Coupes are mainly 2 door variant of sedans fitted with high performing engines to utilize them in car sports.

4. Crossover (CUV)
Crossovers utility vehicles(CUV) are made by combing the features of hatchbacks or station wagons with sports utility vehicles.
On one hand, CUV have features like high point seating, high ground clearance, four wheel drive (optional), tall interior inherited from SUVs. Other features are great handling, good fuel efficiency, passenger vehicles’ platform, two box designs inherited from hatchbacks.

5. Hatchback
A hatchback is a car body configuration with a rear door that swings upward to provide access to a cargo area. 
They may feature fold-down second row seating, where the interior can be flexibly reconfigured to prioritize passenger vs. cargo volume.

6. Landaulet
These cars are mainly used for professional purposes.
They come with a convertible rare passenger section with front section either open or covered.
These cars look like luxurious sedans while enclosed but are longer than sedans. 

7. Limousine
Limousines or Limos are very luxurious sedans with long enclosed bodies. 
They are fully covered from outside with highly luxurious compartments inside. Still, the compartment for the driver remains separate.

8. Roadster
They are two-seat convertible sports cars. Roadster style cars are just a variant of Spyder style cars.
They are just made to challenge the speed.

9. Sedan
Sedans are very common and lovable among the different types of cars.
These are commonly a four door cars with 4+ seats, which are fully covered with a fixed roof tops with full height up to the rear windows.
Sedans are also known as Saloons in British English. 

10. SUV (Sport utility vehicle)
They are large types of cars, which are fitted on small truck like chassis.
SUVs are especially designed for off-road drives, commonly fitted with four doors.
These cars have high ground clearance, comparatively big tyres, extreme power with high load carrying ability and good room for sitting.

11. Wagon
Wagon is also known as “Station wagon”.
This is a variant of sedan style cars and very similar to hatchbacks.
This car that has a large open area behind the back seat instead of a trunk and that has a door at the back for loading and unloading things

How about the mercedes gle coupe and bmw x6? The automakers apparently called them a Coupé either. And how about with the 4-door coupé like mercedes cls and bmw 6 series gran coupé ? I thought the coupé means a sleek & sloping roofline.
