FromSoft:"The dlc will be the size of Limgrave"
The DLC: half the size of the original map 😂

Praying this is true. Blizzard Activisiom and Ubisoft and EA need to fuck off and stop with their evil ways.

Ong Fromsoftware really sold a full game as a dlc

These companies deserve their downfall I hope in the future they realize they can’t get away with just repeatedly selling mediocre games with no improvements

To be fair the 40k License, and specifically the Space Marine, IP is expensive as hell. The main difference is is that Saber know what people like and were like "Let's do that."

Space marine 2 did in fact have an IP attached to it, warhammer 40k is not as big as marvel or dc but it was there

The Space Marine 2 devs just gave the fans what they wanted and continue to actually listen to them. One of the devs had a Q&A on X for fans to ask questions about updates, elements of the story, characters etc and he showed that he knew the lore and really loved the IP. It's almost like if you give fans what they have been asking for for years instead of what you think they want it goes better. Recent years have really shown the difference between making a really good game that the devs are passionate about which becomes successful and makes money, and most EA, Ubisoft, and Activision games. These companies have been so focused on trying to make money that they forgot to make a good game.

The times, they are a'changing. Ironically, we're moving back towards what gaming was in the early days of PCs. Experimental, artistic expressions, quality-first products that don't give a goomba what the 'stockholders' want.

Shadow of the Erdtree is basically Elden ring two, and you get to carry your progress from Elden ring 1

The thing game developers don't understand that your gambling simulator like Genshin still needs to have well working and fun gameplay mechanics when you're not gambling.

I’m cheering for the game dressed up as a DLC personally

I mean yeah, I love that Black Myth Wukong is CLEANING HOUSE, but…

1. Space Marine 2 is ABSOLUTELY a game based on its IP. It just actually realized the unique PROMISE of that IP, which is what I think a better takeaway would be

2. Also wasn’t the best-selling game by a country mile last year a Harry Potter game? With Modern Warfare 3 actually coming second and spider man coming 4th? That’s a lot of IP. I think the “death of the IP game is way overstated (which is a bummer)

The gacha game devs really don't care, they make more than everyone else anyway 💀

I'm so glad we're getting games that feel like art and have developers that listen to what fans want getting recognition and praise more.

Hopefully more companies catch on

I mean, if you want a good example of a game with a massive IP just look at Baldur’s Gate III. DnD is a well loved IP, and the devs made it feel like DnD without sacrificing gameplay, and while building on so much new gameplay elements. It’s the pinnacle of both modern IP-based games and modern turn based RPGs, Helldivers 2 is the pinnacle of modern multiplayer, and Elden Ring is the pinnacle of single player. All of them are what triple a studios SHOULD have been producing already.

This is so fucking cool. I feel like we’re witnessing a historic turn in the gaming industry.

I can't understand what he means by "gimmick" games? He makes a point about them having huge IPs attached, but then uses Space Marine as an example which is Warhammer 40K, a huge IP. You can probably argue Elden Ring is attached to a "huge IP" at this point because of how massive souls and fromsoft games are. I get his points but what is a "gimmick" game?
