Fire crews in two cities responded to house fires within an hour of each other today. The first was in Chesapeake where firefighters got a call about a house fire on Mount Pleasant Road. Crews had to rescue a man and a dog from the home. The man went to the hospital for evaluation. Five people are now displaced.

The second fire happened about a half hour later on Lexington Street in Norfolk. No one was hurt, but crews did treat a cat for smoke inhalation. The Red Cross is helping three adults and a child who were displaced.
