My late father used to make this but when he did it looked like Irish coffee. All the same ingredients poured into Irish coffee glasses and then a good teaspoon of good quality salted butter floated on top. One then drank the hot, sweet, spiced rum through the layer of salted butter floating on top. He always maintained that it was great for sore throats, coughs, etc'. But I'm not sure if it was because of the butter or the rum. 🤔🙄🤣🤣🇬🇧

So basically a liquid molasses cookie? I can't imagine a bit a ginger would hurt.

You don’t have to mash the sugar and butter. Just add the butter at the end when it’s hot and it’ll melt.

mix the solubles together (hint: not the butter), dissolve the butter in the heated liquid, and imbibe.
