China and Australia 'can be friends' despite political differences

Chinese Ambassador to Australia Xiao Qian says the past five decades have shown China and Australia “can be friends”.

“Amity between our peoples hold the key to sounder relations between our two countries,” he said at the National Press Club on Wednesday afternoon.

“We can be partners in spite of our differences in political system and development stage.”
