but the socio-economic state of Iraq right now can be linked back to the early 60s when a coup took over and the country became a 1 party system, and in the late 70s the then minister of internal security Saddam Husean took over in a violent coup after this he led multiple violent campaigns which included murdering enemies of his regime, declaring war on Iran, declaring war on Kuwait the war in Kuwait was the most detrimental for the country as the US (backed by NATO) launched operation desert storm which freed Kuwait from Iraqi control in under 72 hrs, Saddam did all he could in this war which included using WMD (Weapons of Mass Destruction) which included chemical, fire and psychological. After this the us and NATO sanctioned Iraq and took most of its weapons including all of their WMD this is important information as it will come up later. After the September 11th attacks in New York the United States was looking for the person responsible (Ossama Bin Ladin) they deduced that he was hiding in Iraq (which was completely wrong as at that time he was in Afghanistan) but nevertheless Iraq was complicit to some degree as it allowed IS (the Islamic state) to move freely through out Iraq and so the Iraq war began in 2003 which completely ruined the country as all agriculture, and other forms of survival were wiped out in airstrikes and indiscriminate bombing, the US justified this by the claim of Iraq owning WMD years later we the general public would find out that Iraq never had WMD and that Bush had completely lied about it. The invasion was stopping in the late 2010's after bin ladin was executed by seal team 6 in his compound in Afghanistan. And to this day Iraq has not recovered. It hasn't received any foreign aid due to its instability and penance of terror groups like ISIS (the Islamic state of Iraq and Syria)
