The kids' reaction to that scary picture of Shel Silverstein reminds me of Greg Heffley's reaction to that same picture in the Wimpy Kid books: he says that Shel looks more like a criminal than someone who should be writing kids' books, to the point that Greg was scared of Shel Silverstein when he was little.
