Two really good Pocket Cameras.. Which one would you get ? DJI Pocket 3 or Insta360 X3?

I have both the X3 and pocket 3. Combined with my mini 3 pro drone (upgrading soon), it’s a great setup for capturing fantastic memories when we travel. Small, light setup that fits in an easy to carry shoulder bag or small backpack. These 3 amigos provide a huge variety of filming options and footage. For less money than a decent DSLR, I have everything I need to capture everything from every angle I may possibly need..

I have both, and I use the Insta360 for driving shots or time lapse walking shots, whereas the DJI Osmo pocket three is my go to Vlog camera now

I have the Pocket 3, X3, and Mavic 3....dang thats a lot of 3s. I love them all and each of them have their place. X3 is great in bright conditions to capture everything and reframe later...whereas the Pocket 3 is freaken amazing in low light conditions with buttery smooth shots (the X3 will struggle here)....and obviously the Mavic 3 for those incredible shots where no other camera can go

I personally thing the Pocket 3 has better video quality especially when you add ND filters, but that is me and I like to plan a shoot so not bothered about the flexibility of the X3, but as I said that is just me.

Nobody talks about the ability to film in 1:1 ratio with the Pocket 3 which uses the full sensor. That gives you the choice of changing the aspect ratio to horizontal or vertical in editing much like using the 8x7 ratio with a GoPro.

Until you've used the x3. You will never fully appreciate how wonderful it is to use. No problems thinking about composing video.... you pick and choose it all later. While Ian talks about the 1m selfie stick. Where it comes into its own and is totally unique. Is when you use the 3 metre stick. The results are nothing short of astonishing.... what Ian didn't talk about is you can actually down load in 4k 30 from the app if you use story board mode or the Insta 360 Windows editor. The normal app resolution is as he pointed out 1080p in normal editing mode. But you don't have to use that if you want 4k output....

Actually you can‘t compare these two cameras. They are both for their area of use very good. 😉

I think comparing these two cameras is not accurate. Same as comparing x3 with gopro or dji action. I have x3 and I use it as action camera (mostly on my bike in mixed conditions) but I would like to buy pocket 3. In my opinion pocket 3 could be really good camera for traveling as x3 also could be but difference here is the quality of the image. I like x3 possibilites like fix position of view in post production or filming myself with invisible stick but quality is not that good and also there are some noises and stretch of the image.

I think if you do a lot of sports etc then you should think about dji action/gopro/insta360 action cams.
If you do not need the best quality, want have fun, don't have experience making shots and you are careful than you can take x3.
If you need good quality, filming yourself, making travel videos but not sports and you don't need APS-C then Pocket is great.

I ride an electric unicycle EUC so I want action with invisible selfie but also 360 to upload to Gmaps street view when riding remote trails. It's a late life crisis thing and will leave my mark on the planet for years after I've gone 😊. EUC is the most dangerous fun ever, loving it

I've iphone 13 mini & insta360 & I really want to buy the dji Pocket 3, but I feel like it's more of a want than a need. These reviews about the dji have me tempted. But I'm also thinking maybe I should use my iPhone more. Would you say the combo of iphone 13 mini for vlogging & insta360 for creative shooting are good enough combo? I really want the dji, but i also feel like im falling for this shiny object syndrome.

Very good video! I have both and they are very good compliments to each other. The Pocket 3 is a handy substitute for my Sony A7 Siii on a DJI RS-3 whenever I want to travel lightly. The X3 gives perspectives you can't get any other way, although I would recommend getting the extra long 3 meter selfie stick for the best drone substitute shots. Because the X3 only provides 1080p edited video, I've been using Topaz Video AI to upscale to 4k to match my other video. I'm very happy with this workflow.
