Brendan Rodgers reveals why he left Celtic for Leicester City

Brendan Rodgers has said he is 'absolutely delighted' to be Leicester City's new manager, but has admitted he was in no rush to leave Celtic after achieving the Scottish treble in two consecutive seasons.
Speaking to LCFC TV, he said: 'When the opportunity came to talk to Leicester and I was able to analyse, it allowed me to probably think I'd maybe probably achieved and taken the club at Celtic maybe as far as I could at this moment.'

We all had kinda came to terms with him leaving at the end of the season, but to sneak out the back door the way he did is what stunned us the most. This is man who constantly banged on integrity, respect, honour, gave us all the belief that, although he would Defo leave at some point, there was no chance he would bail mid season. After all the rhetoric of growing up with celtic, anecdotes of club legends like Tommy and Danny, all the audience's with and the book tours where would lyrical about his love for the club, how it had made him a content and privileged man to be here. We bought into it all. Thats why it cuts so deep. 13000 welcomed him into the ground, another 10-12 games 60000 would have carried him out and took him anywhere he wanted to go. Instead, even with all thats been achieved, there will always be stain there. A bit of a shame.

I thank him for his success at Celtic, he will never be forgotten.BUT, ..to do this to the Celtic supporters WORLDWIDE, and I mean WORLDWIDE, ..is a tragic and unforgiving act of betrayal. Glasgow Celtic are a bigger and more powerful institution than most teams in world football (fact). Good luck to him scrapping and scratching away in probably mid table at Leicester. No disrespect to Leicester, they are a fantastic club with a good fan base, but nowhere near as powerful or passionate as Glasgow Celtic as CLUB.

For nearly three years he harped on about how he loved Celtic, the city, the players and how he and his family were all huge Celtic fans.
He sneaked out the back door and turned his back on it all, AND FOR WHAT???
Things were not all rosy at Celtic recently and I'm sure he felt frustrations with how the club was afraid to invest in the playing squad but to do what he done and in the manner in which he done it can really only leave me of the opinion that he doesn't care about anyone other than himself.
It is also reasonable to assume big Moussa Dembele was correct 'Be careful who you call your leader'.
Brendan you have lost all respect from the hoops faithful and rightly so. Shame on you because the actions did not match the words.
Thank you for the double treble and thank you for some unreal old firm spankings.
Other than that your football was predictable and we got tanked in Europe because of that predictable style.
I somehow believe that this recent and cowardly act will go down as the worst professional decision in your career.

It was clear the board at Celtic did not match your ambition, they didn't back you in the summer or winter transfer windows. You got a terrific offer as first choice as manager for Leicester City, so naturally you had to take that opportunity. Once the rest of the Celtic support calm down, after their initial feelings of being let down, they will respect your decision and wish you well, as I do here.

I am delighted that we have Mr Neil Lennon back as the Celtic manager to fill the position created by your departure. Neil could easily have been offered the Leicester City position and I believe like yourself, that he would have been very successful there.
I am excited at the opportunity that he has in fulfilling his destiny at Celtic, in winning the League and Scottish Cup double this year and even perhaps to go on to win an historic 10 League Championships in a row. Neil commenced this run of wins in his first years as the Celtic Manager.
Oh did I mention the wee matter of Celtic having the opportunity to win a first historic Treble Treble! 🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀 I can't thank you enough Brendan for your contribution to that feat if it is achieved this time around.
