Detailed instructions for tying both Walt's Worm and the Sexy Walt's.
Recipes:
Walt's Worm
Hook: Trout Legend J, size 14.
Bead: Trout Legend TS silver tungsten bead, 3mm .
Weight: .015 lead-free round wire, 8 to 10 wraps.
Thread: Olive, 6/0.
Body: Natural hare’s-mask dubbing and clear Antron, mixed.

Material Source:

Sexy Walt’s Worm
Hook: Trout Legend J, size 14.
Bead: Trout Legend TS silver tungsten bead, 3mm.
Weight: .020 lead-free round wire, 8 to 10 wraps.
Thread: 70 Denier or 8/0, fluorescent orange.
Ribbing: Sulky Sliver Metallic thread, opalescent.
Body: Natural hare’s-mask dubbing and clear Antron, mixed.
Hot spot: Tying thread, fluorescent orange.

I think the Walt’s worm is the epitome of necessity is the mother of all inventions. It was solely created for weight but it is now one of the most consistent flies ever tied.

I've found it's easiest to use a bobbin to load up the lead free wire (a cheap one preferably) and take wraps with the bobbin. It makes it much easier to pack in the last wire wraps without any waste because the weight of the bobbin sort of stabilizes the wire.

My rule for the walt’s worm is keep bulk as low as possible. No wire wraps. Minute dubbing noodle. I use uv grey ice dub and dubbing from the face of a hare’s mask.

I wrap these with copper wraps and use aa a scud pattern. Very helpful stuff Tim
