OPPORTUNITY VS DESIRE

This is a debate I've been having with myself for a couple months now and am still working through finding the answer for it.

Do I work every opportunity that come your way(like I am currently doing) or do I only work the jobs I want o be doing? It's a tough thing to juggle when just starting out it seems

As I have commented on your facebook page before, embrace the millwright and repair work. I say this because there is more of it to be had than piping jobs. Another thing is that you are a one man show and it is going to be very hard to tackle most piping jobs without good helpers and at least another welder or two. Once you get your service welding business built up well and established and are able to hire a couple of good hands ( that is a feat in itself! ) then start bidding on the piping projects.
Now this is only my opinion, but I follow you because you remind me of myself 25 years ago. I started my business up part time, then went full time. Not as much welding as I would like but more machining and maintenance. Once my business was established I was offered a nice pipe project from a company that I do maintenance repairs for. Just as I originally wanted when I started this endeavor. Then I realized the I could not handle the size of the project or the time frame they needed. You being an ex pipeliner is what has you second guessing yourself, please don't take that the wrong way, but maintenance welding and millwright work is not as romantic as laying miles of big tube! but guess what, It pays just as well if you run your business properly.
Build your business, stack your cash, hire some hands then chase the piping projects. Love what you do and the things you want will come in time.
I enjoy your videos.

I went around and talk to the pipe fitting and Welding people in my area to help them out on big jobs you're always having welder dragging up and not enough welders that might be a way to get your foot in the door hardworking Dependable people is very very hard to find this day and time lol great video wish you the best

Take anything you can get, but look at me, what all different jobs I do to pay the bills. For your bed, a high mounted gin pole, maybe on a rotating plate? Lol. By high mount I refer to mount near roof line so its out of way anything in bed, but lay over roof area like a ladder rack would.

I take just about anything I can do, usually aluminum. Had a guy call today about reinforcing his new docks flexing to much, I told him I’d look . Some jobs are more than I can handle, then I pass them on. Terry

I'm in the same boat as you. I have a tree company. I'm doing anything right now but I really wanna do is do tree preservation. So all the removals I haven't posted.

Just keep going I'll be praying for you.

at least what you doing now you could always hire man to do all your heavy equipment repairs and getting off of Capital then you can go into your pipe thing that way you can have two or three trucks on the road all the time

Is there much pipe welding in the area you live? If there’s not much, that might be a problem for you trying to get into doing more of it.
