Another Authentic Benne Dosa in Bombay for Rs.125/-

Benne Dosa is the talk of the town now and a lot of you suggested I visit Idlay Cafe. So I took the Serial Eaters and we had a breakfast meet up at the cafe. Even the Mumbai rain couldn't stop us and Saturday morning 9am we were at the cafe.

It's a nice small space and between the Serial Eaters I think we ordered everything on the menu. I got myself the single vada, filter coffee and masala dosa with benne and no podi. For me the vada paled in comparison to what I had at Ram Ashraya but dipped in the sambar it was a bit better. The filter coffee was nice but next time I have to ask for it to be made a bit stronger, customization needed. But let's talk about the star of the show, the dosa! That was a good dosa, perfectly good, good flavour in the batter, a nice balance of crisp and softness, masala perfectly flavoured and spiced but not spicy, GREAT tasting Benne and overall a good dosa experience. I would go back for it.

The other dishes had mixed reactions, some failed to impress while others did. But overall everyone had a good breakfast. Have you visited them? What do you think about their food?

I have visited this place. Ordered goli bhaji is very sweet, Dosa also not good quality as per requirement . Samabar is so tangii. Never visited this place.
