Just a review of what it is like after you install an 80cc big bore kit on a Gy6 scooter

Link here for the video I watched installing the BBK myself

For everyone to see, I misdiagnosed the problem. It’s not the valves, it’s the CVT’s belt slipping around at high RPMs. Simple belt swap and some other things and be good to go 👌

Don’t worry about his pistion and spring theory. I’ve been there done that. The problem actually is when you gas it hard and let off the nut can’t handle the resistance in the cvt transmission so it gets loose and the plastic cooling fan loosens and gets caught on the kickstarter gear and grinds and makes the terrible noise. To fix it I just impact the crap out of the nut and if that doesn’t work then use medium loctite

I like the Ford Escort Wagons in the background. I had a 99 Escort Wagon SE for my first car. It was a beast in the snow for some reason even with summer tires

I’ve done it . Very worth it . My backroads are a minimum of 40mph. Worth the upgrade. Take your time an pay attention to what you’re doing .

Great video. I've noticed similar issues, particularly in MPG. Throttle has to be at least halfway to start off. Then, very responsive at any point. Fast acceleration. Top Speed of 50 mph. Not bad. Is it worth it? To keep up with traffic, absolutely. There's tradeoffs with anything. 😎

This was a helpful video. I just finished installing a 80cc kit on my gy6, but the carb has been sitting for months, as well as the battery being almost completely dead, so it’s safe to say it’s been pretty hard to get started

These engines are timed with a chain and gears. A piston cannot move faster than the camshaft, period end of story. Valves hitting the piston is more than likely from the engine not being timed correctly when assembled. However, this video is great. Thanks for the time.

Keep up the good work for just learning Steve from Annapolis Maryland I've been working on scooters for over 10 years I got to 150cc and the biggest camshaft and I got the biggest intake and exhaust valve cylinder head you could put on a 150cc with dual valve springs and I can get up to 70 mph just to get out of trouble when I need to but most of the time it's 40 mph keep up the good work you got my vote

When I started fooling around with upgrading my gy6 50cc, there was very little info to be found on the internet so it was an expensive trial and error deal. I’ve rebuilt several engines since and have arrived on a formula/mix of parts that work for my needs. My last project from a couple days ago involves installing a gy6 150 and utilizing the same formula (except much larger and expensive’r) but I don’t think I will ever build a 50cc anytime soon or ever again because this new engine is NUTS and much faster….

Sand and polish inside of manifold and intake port. Makes a big difference with larger jets, bigger carb when kitting a big bore.

I just got a Chinese 50cc scooter ….
and immediately want some more performance from it because of traffic. Thinking of trading it back in for a fake 150 because it’s just too slow on acceleration. It’s just dangerous on acceleration. Thank you for your honest opinion on the bbk option. Not sure yet. It’s almost fast enough but not quite enough around the hood to get really moving and productive. 😀

The worst is hills ive run so many red lights right before a hill because if i lose my momentum i do like 30-35 km/h up a hill im hoping the 80cc kit will fix that

Just puttering around on the internet looking for a way to make my friends gy6 50cc go faster and found your video. The bike done 40ish right now. But it's got stupid slow acceleration. We tried to do every little upgrade we could. But it didn't make a huge difference. We're looking at putting a 100cc BBK on the bike. Sounds like it's a good deal. We found a kit on Amazon for $90 with upgraded valve springs and an upgraded camshaft. The only thing it needs is an upgraded carb to handed the 100cc BBK. Thanks for the helpful tips man. It sounds like we're going to do the 100cc BBK on my friends bike.

I did a 100cc bbk with 64mm valves
Performance cdi
Performance coil
Performance spark plug
Bigger jets
Aftermarket intake
Exhaust
Performance cam
New- not necessary “performance variator
Heavier rollers

Not put on yet:
Kevlar belt
New clutch
And i haven’t tried the 150cc carb yet

Speed increased from 30-43mph
And 20mph steep hill to. Crusing 30-34

Still tinkering
